Magnus talked about design and development practices, as well as needs and trade off analyses faced during the everyday work as a designer of complex products. Drawing on real examples from his long industrial experience, Magnus raised a lot of interest among the students.
The guest lecture was was given within the System Engineering course (MT2530) on the MSPI-programme.
This year version of the course has seen the students working “in real life” on the analysis and improvement of a sub-system for a set of asphalt rollers using system engineering methods and tools.
Apart from MSPI, also students from the M.Sc. programmes in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management and Engineering.
We thank Magnus for the valuable insights and invite everyone interested to take part to the final presentation of the students’ projects planned for the end of May.

The purpose of the course is for the students to gain an understanding of how different solutions are developed within industry today through applying and integrating knowledge necessary for future product- and service innovation. Participants will gain knowledge in project management, creative concept development, systems thinking for sustainability and technological solutions.
